Boy Smells ‘Hinoki Fantôme’

Score: 86%

Notes: (Floral Family) resin, hinoki, cardamom, jasmine, moss

In our words: Boy Smells is a brand this close to being a top-tier candle maker, but their candles are inconsistent making it difficult to know if you’re getting a great candle, or a lemon. Hinoki Fantôme falls into the camp of being one of Boy Smells good candles. The resin and jasmine come together to give this a woody-floral blend that is sweet and earthy. In a studio apartment, this candle filled the space nicely, but in a larger space it was hit or miss if you would be able to pick up its scent or not. All in all, it is a really wonderful candle, and a B+ rating should validate you trying it out — but our expectations for this candle were quite high and this fell short of our lofty fantasy.

In their words: The resinous combination of sacred Japanese cypress and jasmine petals are uniquely wrapped in rich amber glow. Warm and meditative with an element of earthy spice and soft woodland moss.
